Irma Thomas is a contemporary of Aretha Franklin, but she never quite reached that level of commercial success. Known as The Soul Queen of New Orleans, Irma has been pleasing her audiences for many decades.

A prolific songwriter, Mitchell has written about love, abandonment, disillusionment, the environment, war and the human condition. Today we have her live from Milan, Italy.

This would be an excellent time to tune us in! We have some great music in store over the next two weeks, including some new Linda Ronstadt live recordings to lay on you. As far as I know, we are the only radio station that pays respect to women in this manner, (and that includes Sirius-XM).

One of the greatest singer-songwriters of his generation for certain. He left us far too soon, but not before he made an indelible mark on the music world.

This would be a great day to tune us in and give us a shot. Programming takes up only about six hours of our 24/7 programming. The rest is dedicated to open stream.

10:00 a.m.   Album of The Week: Adieu False Heart, Linda Ronstadt & Ann Savoy   NEW!

Nobody can ever accuse Linda Ronstadt of resting on her laurels. She was always in pursuit of the next musical adventure. The absolute best thing about Ronstadt — at least for her true fans — was that she refused to have her music defined by anybody. To put it bluntly, she sang because she loved singing.

This album was released on July 25, 2006. It would be Ronstadt’s last studio album before her retirement in 2011, and her revelation about having Parkinson’s Disease. Her musical partner is the amazing Ann Savoy, a Cajun music singer with a band called The Magolia Sisters. Ronstadt is technically a soprano; Savoy an alto. They had made duets before for a Cajun tribute album. Here, they unite as The Zozo Sisters, and the result is stunning.

Absolute Fact: Linda Ronstadt’s ultimate desire was to be part of an all-girl band. Those were the kinds of projects she sought out for herself.

We’re back with five hours of musical programming that defined a generation. From The Beatles, to The Kinks, to Barry McGuire, Lulu, Del Shannon, and Bob Dylan. It’s all here!

Today in the Spotlight, we have Mudcrutch. The band that would morph into the force that’s known as Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. In reality, Mudcrutch was a force unto itself, returning under Petty in 2008 to make some brilliant music. Failing to see this band during it’s small-venue tour in 2016 is one of the great regrets of my musical life.

6:00 p.m.     In the Spotlight: The Music of Led Zeppelin   NEW!

We’re spending some quality time with the original headbangers tonight. Formed in London in 1968, they celebrated their 50th year in service to the musical masses in 2018.
