Here’s Friday’s lineup:

We are one day away from the true weekend. Some of us working under the scourge of retail, however, start our weekends even later. But no matter, because whether I’m sitting here in The Mermaid Lounge or taking shit in retail hell, the Music Mermaid is clearly in control. The music here never stops.

7:00 p.m. Emmylou Harris Live at My Father’s Place, Roslyn, New York, September 14, 1976 NEW!

Some great early Emmylou Harris here with The Hot Band, one of the greatest bands ever to stand on stage with her. It’s also at a legendary venue, My Father’s Place in New York. There are a lot of songs that came off the great Elite Hotel album that put her on the map, but she had just also released a new gem in Luxury Liner, so that’s represented here as well. She is, without a doubt, a Mermaid Lounge favorite. Live broadcast on WLIR-FM.

Excellent day to tune us in, people. We’ve got some great programming and, as always, our wide Open Stream of 27,000+ songs. It doesn’t get much better than that, although we are working on it. And, oh yeah, did I mention we’re totally, 100%, no-strings-attached free? That’s a bonus.

Monday Rolls Around Again and We’ve Got Some ‘Live’ Guess Who, Jackson Browne In the Spotlight, and Some ‘Drivin’ Songs’ Later On, June 13, 2022

Here we are again from The Mermaid Lounge on another back-to-work day. If you’re working where you can listen in, just pull up a tab and make your day so much brighter right here.

It’s a ‘first’ here in The Mermaid Lounge as we kick off today’s programming with some ‘live’ Guess Who!

Here’s your back-to-work lineup:

11:00 a.m. The Guess Who Live at The Ambassador Theater, St. Louis, MO, May 6, 1974 NEW!

The Guess Who is, without a doubt, a fantastic band. We’ve got some of their stuff in our rotation, but we’re on the hunt for all of it. That’s where we found this gem. As we expand our horizons for the summer, we’re kicking off the day with this live performance which was broadcast on KSHE 95FM.

3:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Jackson Browne

It’s time to put Jackson Browne back In the Spotlight. It has been a while. Every time we hear this playlist we’re reminded why he’s considered one of the greatest song writers of all time.

7:00 p.m. Drivin’ Songs: Various Artists

And then, we close out the night with songs about driving. But it doesn’t stop there. Some of these songs may not actually be about driving, but they help you go just a little bit faster than you were originally planning. Hey, that’s why they’re driving songs. You’ll be riding with The Doobie Brothers, Tom Petty, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles, The Grateful Dead, The Eagles, Emmylou Harris, Van Morrison, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Golden Earring, CSNY, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, The Kinks, The Byrds, The Moody Blues, Deep Purple, Rare Earth, Canned Heat, Bruce Springsteen and more!

Start your Monday with a little boost from The Music Mermaid here in the Lounge. We’ve got several new playlists to unveil this week, and we start today! We’re on 24/7 totally free of commercial advertising and at absolutely no cost to you. What’s not to love?

Today, We’ve Got Our ‘By the Numbers’ Playlist, Our Album of The Week, and Eva Cassidy Live Later, Thursday, June 9, 2022

It’s all about numbers. Here’ are some numbers for you. In fact, one of our songs in today’s multi-artist list is a Beatle song McCartney wrote when he was just 14 years old!

Here’s Thursday’s line-up:

11:00 a.m. By The Numbers: Various Artists

Another great multi-artist playlist with numbers in the title, lyrics or both. You’ll hear The Beatles, Chicago, Three Dog Night, Mudcrutch, J.J. Cale, Steely Dan, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Asleep At The Wheel, Eddie Cochran, Alice Cooper, Emmylou Harris, The Grass Roots, The Byrds, The Temptations, The Doors, Shawn Colvin, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Johnny Rivers, and more!

3:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Living With The Animals by Mother Earth

Our second-to-last airing of this gem is upon us; our final airing will be sometime on Saturday. While Tracy Nelson is the standout on this album, it’s much more than just a vehicle for her voice. It’s flat out a great album.

7:00 p.m. Eva Cassidy Live at Pearl’s Restaurant, Annapolis, MD, September 14, 1994 NEW!

Some people have commented that they’ve never heard Eva Cassidy before. That’s not surprising since she passed far too soon, at the age of 36, before really hitting her stride. But she’s left behind a great volume of work, and we’re about to add a bunch more into our standard rotation. During our hunt for her music, we found this great live soundboard performance. Don’t miss it.

Tune us in, people. You can’t go wrong here in The Mermaid Lounge. We’re on 24/7 unmolested by commercial advertising. And we’re totally free. What’s not to love?

Here’s your midweek lineup:

10:00 a.m. Travelin’ Fever: Various Artists

Yes, sir. We’re on the road for this musical journey. It’s all about location, location, location and how we manage to get to those locations. 7:00 p.m. True Love Always: Various Artists

On Monday, we heard from the lovelorn. Today, it’s the opposite side of the coin. You’ll hear The Hollies, Joni Mitchell, Tom Rush, Jackson Browne, George Harrison, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Boz Scaggs, Delaney & Bonnie, The Band, Buffalo Springfield, Van Morrison, Carly Simon, Stevie Wonder, Basia, Bonnie Raitt, Guy Clark, The Mamas & The Papas, Dusty Springfield, Maria Muldaur, Valerie Carter, Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Swing Out Sister, Donovan, and more!

We have two great multi-artist playlists for you today, one an EP and one not. Either way, we’ve got some seriously good material here for you with a theme. We have fun putting them together for you so, dammit, you’d better have fun listening to them. For free. And we’re free and running 24/7.

The Workday Week Begins With The Heartbreakers’ Deep Cuts & B-Sides, and Nothing But Heartbreak Later, Monday, June 6, 2022

Good Morning, Musicologists! We kick off the work week in style with some lesser-played Heartbreaker songs, and our multi-artist heartbreak playlist bringing up the rear.

Danger! Heartbreak dead ahead!

Here’s your Monday lineup:

11:00 a.m. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Deep Cuts & B-Sides

We’ve got a few hours here of some great Heartbreakers’ music that you probably don’t hear much, at least on traditional radio. Even if you’re a subscriber to Tom Petty Radio, some of these may not be heard with frequency. But we’ve got them here today, and they are always in our rotation.

7:00 p.m. Nothing But Heartbreak: Various Artists

This one is for the lovelorn, something I’m pretty good at, by the way. To say that my skills in choosing the right person are lacking would be an understatement. But nevertheless, you’ll know that I’m not the only one when you hear Carole King, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Tom Rush, the J. Geils Band, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Mudcrutch, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Dan Fogelberg, Aretha Franklin, The Band, Cat Stevens, The Bee Gees, Lucinda Williams, The Walker Brothers, Them, The Pretenders, Gladys Knight & The Pips, and more!

There is no better way to start your week than by pushing this little button below. You don’t need your wallet. Your money’s no good here. Got it?

On Sunday, We Feature Our New AOW by Tracy Nelson & Mother Earth, Plus ‘The Female Species’ EP Later, June 5, 2022

Here’s your Sunday lineup:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Living With The Animals by Mother Earth NEW!

It’s tough to find a decent photo of Tracy Nelson & Mother Earth, believe me. We tried mightily but the best we could come up with was this poster. Etta James once called Nelson, “a bad white girl.” And she certainly is bad in the best sense of the word. One of the absolute best combinations in music happened when Ronstadt sang Tracy Nelson’s Down So Low, and you will hear Nelson’s version on this album. While Mother Earth is often presented as merely a vehicle for Nelson, that’s an unfair characterization. The band was more than that, and you’ll see that on this album.

3:00 p.m. The Female Species: Various Artists

Not to be confused with our ‘Ladies Day Out’ EP. While we certainly include woman artists in this playlist, this one’s about the use of the word lady, girl, woman, chick, whatever the term, in the title, lyrics, or both. You’ll hear from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Talking Heads, Jackson Brown, The Boogaloo Swamis, John Mayall, Hot Tuna, The Eagles, Elvis Presley, Fleetwood Mac, Electric Light Orchestra, Percy Sledge, The Beatles, Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, Roy Orbison, Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, The Temptations, and more!

Sunday. It’s a day of rest, people. Even the big guy (whomever that might be) took the day off from the entitled masses. That’s what you should be doing now. And what better way to spend the day than right here. Because life is too damned short to listen to bad music.

Today It’s The ‘Water, Water Everywhere’ EP and Bobbie Gentry’s AOW, Sliding Toward a Holiday Weekend, Thursday, May 26, 2022

Good Morning, Music Lovers! We’re heading for the weekend again today as we give you songs about water on this fine day. It’s only fitting since the earth is composed of 71% water.

Today’s EP is about water in the title, lyrics or both!

Here’s your Thursday lineup:

10:00 a.m. Water, Water Everywhere: Various Artists

Yes, it’s a scientific fact that the earth is composed of 71% water, and today we talk about water all day long (without being boring, of course). You’ll hear from Paul McCartney, Deep Purple, Joe Cocker, Simon & Garfunkel, Otis Redding, Neil Young, Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, Valerie Carter, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Al Green, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Loggins & Messina, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Linda Ronstadt, Spirit, The Grass Roots, The Beach Boys, Lindisfarne, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, Steely Dan, Tom Rush, Johnny Rivers, America, Donovan and more!

7:00 p.m. Album of The Week: The Delta Sweete by Bobbie Gentry

This is the next-to-last airing of this ambitions concept album by a very talented, yet reclusive, recording artist. On Sunday, we’ll have a brand new entry!

Great day to be with your worldwide fellow listeners. We’re working on some special Memorial Weekend programming here in The Mermaid Lounge revolving around our House Bands! It’ll be the top hits of The Beatles on Saturday the 28th, and Petty’s top hits on Sunday the 29th, so plan to be here!

We Hit The Midweek Stride With Our House Extended Playlist, and Some ‘Live’ Bonnie Raitt Later, Wednesday, May 25, 2022

Good Morning, Musicologists! Today we’ve got our #BecomeUngovernable House EP with all of our favorite songs in over five hours of uninterrupted multi-artist music. Bringing up the rear, it’s some ‘live’ Bonnie Raitt.

We’ve got some early Bonnie Raitt live from The Rainbow Room later!

Here’s your midweek musical landscape:

10:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

All of our favorite stuff, with an emphasis on protest music, collected in one five-plus-hour sitting. You’ll hear the music of Barry McGuire, The Temptations, Edwin Starr, Peter Tosh, The Beatles, Genesis, T-Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Years After, , The Plastic Ono Band, Billy Joel, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Richie Havens, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Nina Simone, and more!

7:00 p.m. Bonnie Raitt Live at The Rainbow Room, Philadelphia, PA, February 22, 1972

We’ve got some early ‘live’ Bonnie Raitt here for you tonight, and it’s a great one. We haven’t heard this one in a while, so it’ll be like new!

Don’t delay. Tune us in today! We are not a business since we make absolutely not one dime off of this effort. It’s free 24/7. No subscription to pay for. No credit card asked for. And no invasion of your privacy by collecting personal information. Just music. Period.

On Sunday Bobbie Gentry Makes a Return Visit, and Then It’s Volume Two of Our Sixties Rotation, May 22, 2022

Good Morning, Sixties Music Lovers! This is your day as Bobbie Gentry makes a return engagement with her innovative album, The Delta Sweete, and we bring on volume two of the Sixties Rotation.

Here’s your musical landscape for today:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: The Delta Sweete by Bobbie Gentry NEW!

We bring back Bobbie Gentry this week with her ambitious concept album, The Delta Sweete, a musical projection of life in her ancestral home of Chickasaw County, Mississippi. She went into the studio in 1967, and the album was released in 1968. The Beatles had already released their amazingly epic concept album, Sargeant Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band, and other artists joined in as well, including The Moody Blues, The Kinks, and The Beach Boys, to name a few. Frank Sinatra even did it in the 50s. Few understand how talented Bobbie Gentry truly was because she remained low key throughout her short career. We hope you enjoy this one.

3:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation: Volume Two

The second portion of our Sixties obsession is upon us for another month. This EP covers mostly the mid-to-late sixties. I say mostly because I know how I am and I’m sure some early sixties stuff has slipped in. Nevertheless, you’ll hear The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Roy Orbison, The Yardbirds, The Animals, Linda Ronstadt, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Blind Faith, The Spencer Davis Group, The Box Tops, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett, The Band, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, The Ronettes, The Kinks, Jimmy Cliff, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Donovan, B.B. King, The Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin, and many more!

We’re on fire this morning with listeners from Germany, the UK, The Netherlands, Australia, Greece, France, Spain, Portugal, Faroe Islands, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, and let’s toss in Dallas, Texas; Natick, Massachusetts, Long Island, and points beyond! What are you waiting for?
