Speaking of folk music, this evening we introduce our new featured singer-songwriter, Shawn Colvin, A veteran of the Fast Folk Cooperative of Greenwich Village, Colvin is a three-time Grammy winner. She is best known for her song Sunny Came Home, which won Grammys for both Song and Record of the Year in 1998. She has been composing, singing, recording and performing live for decades and is rightfully our new featured singer-songwriter.

Back in 1987, B. B. King and his friends decided to make a ‘live’ blues album as they were recorded at the Ebony Showcase Theater in L.A. His friends included blues greats like Etta James, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Paul Butterfield, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and several more. We bring this great album to you today!

3:00 p.m. Ladies Day Out: Various Artists

One of our absolute favorite days is the one where the women of music take over the airwaves here for several hours of music that encompasses all musical styles (there are some exclusions but we don’t need to list them if you’re a listener). To this day, the women of music get the short end of the stick on many radio stations, but not this one. You’ll hear Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Emmylou Harris, Petula Clark, Laura Nyro, Cilla Black, Irma Thomas, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Janis Joplin, Carole King, Maria Muldaur, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Eva Cassidy, Wendy Waldman, Shawn Colvin, The Ronettes, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Norah Jones, Phoebe Snow, Nicolette Larson, Sheryl Crow, Valerie Carter, Dolly Parton, Dusty Springfield and more!
