In fact, they heard it in Britain and it immediately took hold. Speaking of the Laurel Canyon generation and those who pioneered country-rock, we sadly lost J.D. Souther on September 17, just about a week before he was scheduled to hit the road with Karla Bonoff. Souther was a songwriting legend, whose songs were tickets to fame for The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt, among others. Today, we put him In the Spotlight where he belongs.

This is a great ‘in session’ performance by two masters during the recording of Dylan’s Nashville Skyline album, one of my personal Dylan favorites. Although The Girl From The North Country was the only cut to make the album, it was a great collaboration.

She faded from the American conscience and found herself in England, signed by The Beatles to Apple Records and releasing an album co-produced by George Harrison. She fared much better in the UK than she did here, and that’s a shame. Doris Troy was truly one of the many talented who fall through the cracks. Today we have her In the Spotlight.
