Arguably, the greatest songwriter of all time is featured this coming week. (Many consider Townes Van Zandt his closest competitor; he’s also on he list). Bob Dylan won a Pulitzer Prize in Literature for his songwriting skills, and he’s up at 8:00 p.m. tonight.

Yes, it’s kick back time (and no, I’m not asking for money). I mean, it’s time to kick back and enjoy the music. We’re on 24/7, we’re free of charge, and the music is free of commercial advertising of any kind. Give us a try today. You won’t regret it.

Emmylou Harris returns with our Album of The Week released on February 7, 1975 (my 21st birthday). This time it’s her second studio release and the first on a major label. It is a tour de force without a doubt. She covers songs by Dolly Parton, Lennon & McCartney, Charles & Ira Louvin, and Rodney Crowell, among others. We’re on track for a beautiful day here in the Boston area. The sun is shining and it’s nice and cool out today. Great day to open the windows and turn it up. So, it shall be. We’re on 24/7 and we’re commercial-free. And we’ve got The Music Mermaid at the helm. What could be better?

The brothers aren’t really “pop” singers but this wasn’t really a “pop” festival either. That was a popular catch word for popular music, not a specific reference to a music genre. But I digress. What could be better than closing out the day with some great blues-rock from the Allman Brothers Band?

We’re on 24/7, not just when we’re in program mode. We have international listeners who are on all night long. If you wake up and you can’t sleep, tune us in. All you need is the button below. We’re guaranteed to make your life better.

We like to keep it simple on Sundays and give you plenty of wide Open Stream with The Music Mermaid. Today we’ve got the first Mudcrutch album as our AOW to kick it off.

Here’s today’s musical lineup:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Mudcrutch by Mudcrutch NEW!

We start the day and a new week with the first Mudcrutch album. This is the band that left Gainesville looking for musical fortune in L.A. It didn’t work out until later as the band split and morphed into Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (we’re happy for that part). Later in 2008, Tom Petty reunited the original band and they finally found their place in the music world, releasing two albums and going on tour. Enjoy this one. They were a fine band in their own right.

Geils Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Them, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Patti Smith, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, The Kinks, the Electric Prunes, Phoebe Snow, Joe Walsh, The Eagles, The Ronettes, John Cougar Mellencamp, The Doors, Emmylou Harris, Poco, Neil Diamond, The Animals, The Band, the Rolling Stones, Don McLean, Steve Winwood, Cat Stevens, The Traveling Wilburys, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Cliff, Bonnie Raitt and more!

Kick back and relax with us today. It’s Sunday. Don’t know where you are today, but here it’s bright and sunny and will be in the 70’s. Nice. Great day for great music.
