Monday Delivers Our ’27 and Gone’ Playlist, a Rickie Lee Jones ‘Spotlight’, and Chicago Live at Tanglewood, March 24, 2025

It’s Monday, Monday again and we’ve got our playlist from the members of the ’27 Club,’ followed by Rickie Lee Jones ‘In The Spotlight’ and live Chicago.

Here’s your Monday, Monday programming:

10:00 a.m. 27 and Gone: Various Artists

Songs from members of the ’27 Club’, those musicians who died who died in their 27th year. You’ll hear Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Badfinger (Pete Ham), Canned Heat (Al Wilson), Amy Winehouse, The Rolling Stones (Brian Jones), The Grateful Dead (Ron “Pigpen” McKernan), Robert Johnson, Spanky & Our Gang (Malcolm Hale) and more!

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Rickie Lee Jones

One great singer-songwriter whose career has spanned five decades and many genres, including rock, R & B, pop, soul and jazz.

8:00 p.m. Chicago Live at Tanglewood Music Center, Lenox, MA, July 21, 1970

I was at this performance. It was and still is a truly amazing outdoor setting and this was a great show. Enjoy.

Here we are again at the beginning of another work week with more uncertainty in the air because The Orange Buffoon is back from Mar-A-Lago. I try not to be political, but these are not ordinary times and none of us can keep our mouths shut. We’re anti-capitalist and we don’t charge any money. We’re here 24/7. And we don’t track you. Spend the Day With America, Rickie Lee Jones and Volume Two of Our ‘Sixties Rotation’ on Saturday, September 28, 2024

Good morning, sunshines! Here we are again functioning as weekenders and we’ve got a great lineup for you today that starts with some new music (relatively speaking; all of our music is pretty old music) and wraps up with a trip in the Wayback Machine!

Here’s your Saturday lineup:

There are just some bands you are drawn to. This is one of those bands, in fact. I became an early adopter with A Horse With No Name. Over the years, they have made a lot of great music, much of which is buried on their albums. That’s the beauty of America. They were also innovative enough to catch the eye of a guy named George Martin.

3:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Rickie Lee Jones

The Spotlight is on Rickie Lee Jones, another female artists who is difficult to box into a style of music. Over her five-decade career she has recorded in various musical styles, including rock, R&B, pop, soul, and jazz.

6:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

We close out the evening on Sixties music from The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Roy Orbison, The Yardbirds, The Animals, Linda Ronstadt, Wilson Pickett, The Band, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, The Ronettes, The Kinks, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimmy Cliff, The Velvet Underground, The Byrds, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Blind Faith, The Spencer Davis Group, The Four Tops, CSNY, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Doors, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell and more!

Whew. That’s quite a lineup. And it’s all free. No lie. Here’s the other thing: We’re on 24/7; not just when we have schedule programs. We’ve got more than 27,000 songs to share with you. The button is below.

It’s a Busy Monday With ‘Working Songs’, Rickie Lee Jones, Van Morrison and Elvis Costello, February 12, 2024

Good morning, music lovers! I was a bit overexuberant last night and went off the ledge on scheduling today. (We’re actually exploring a bit of late-night programming for our overseas listeners!)

Here’s your Monday, Monday lineup:

11:00 a.m. Working Songs: Various Artists

Quite appropriate on a Monday morning as the work week begins. You’ll hear from The Staple Singers, Van Morrison, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lennon, Slim Harpo, Neil Young, Jim Croce, Little Feat, Bob Dylan, Jesse Winchester, Maria Muldaur and more!

4:00 p.m.  In The Spotlight: The Music of Rickie Lee Jones

Over five decades this great singer-songwriter has recorded songs in a variety genres, including jazz, rock, pop, soul and R&B.

7:00 p.m.  Van Morrison Live at The Bottom Line, New York, NY, November 1, 1978

Van the Man is a staple around these parts. We haven’t heard him for a while, so we thought it was about time we break him out of mothballs.

Here we have another great Elvis, but it’s Costello. You can love him or hate him, but the man broke barriers and is a hell of a singer-songwriter. He’s one of the very few of his generation that I actually listen to.

Another Monday in paradise…at least for me since my “weekends” fall on Sunday-Monday. We’ve got some great music today and we’re toying with late-night programming. We’ll see how it goes. Our overnight listeners are generally outside the U.S. Give us a listen.

Friday in The Lounge Brings Some ‘Live’ Eva Cassidy, Rickie Lee Jones and Donovan In the Spotlight, June 16, 2023

3:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Rickie Lee Jones FINAL AIRING!

Today Rickie Lee Jones takes her final spin as our featured singer-songwriter. Tomorrow we introduce a brand new artist.

8:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Donovan

The original flower child is back for a turn here. Donovan addressed important issues in his music as much as anyone, but he did it with a lighthearted touch. Today he’s our Spotlight artist.

You’ve made it to the end of the work week, so why not celebrate with some great music. We’ve got it all here 24/7 at no charge. No strings. No bullshit. We’re all about the music. No, you can’t make custom playlists. But that’s not radio. This is radio. Anticipating the next song. Try it.

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Rickie Lee Jones NEW!

In spite of the fact that Rickie Lee Jones has been at it for five decades, she has shunned the limelight. It’s only fitting, then, that we feature her as this week’s singer-songwriter. She has refused to be defined by one style, writing and singing songs from a variety of genres including rock, R & B, pop, soul and jazz.

Join us today. The Lounge is filling up fast, but there’s plenty of room for everyone here. We’re all about sharing great music at absolutely no cost to anyone and with no commercial interruption. See for yourselves!
