He was a prolific songwriter whose compositions are considered masterpieces of American songwriting, such as Pancho & Lefty, For The Sake of The Song, Tecumseh Valley and If I Needed You. His songs have been recorded by hundreds of artists, including Emmylou Harris (the absolute best version of Pancho & Lefty ever, IMO), Norah Jones, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan himself.

Macca’s body of work since The Beatles split is immense, beginning with his ten years leading Wings (longer than The Beatles existed) and his solo work.
