The All-Girl Revue, The Rolling Stones ‘Live’ in San Jose, Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions, and Band On The Run, Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Does it get any better than this? Of course, it can. This is #BecomeUngovernable Radio where everything we do every day is done without giving one thought to the system.

Springsteens Seeger Sessions-1

Here’s today’s line-up:

11:00 a.m.     Album of the Week: Paul McCartney & Wings, Band On The Run

The problem with being a Beatle is that — as a solo artist — you are always measured by the band’s standards. When it’s one of you, those are eight tough shoes to fill. This album was, without a doubt, outstanding. And given the various calamities that took place during the recording of this album, it’s a miracle it was. You can read about it here.

2:00 p.m.      The All-Girl Revue, Volume 3

Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Janis Joplin, Emmylou Harris, Melanie, and Dolly Parton grace this particular volume.

5:00 p.m.      The Rolling Stones, One From the Vault: San Jose, 1999

Mick and the boys tear it up.

9:00 p.m.      Bruce Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions

This shit is just unbelievable. Springsteen pays appropriate homage to folk god Pete Seeger.

Before, in between, at the end…in fact, 24/7: We are open all day and night with the best music on the damned planet. See for yourself.

In Honor of My 66th Birthday, I’m Playing You 66 of My Favorite Songs; There’s Also Petty Theft and the All-Girl Revue!

Good Morning, Ungovernables! Well, putting 66 candles on a birthday cake is a fire hazard, but playing you 66 of my favorite songs on my birthday (in no particular order) is a great substitute.

Here’s your line-up for February 7:

11:00 a.m.     Petty Theft: The Covers

The same principles that make Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers the greatest rock n’roll band of all time also make them the greatest cover band of all time. Give it a listen. You’ll see what I mean.

3:00 p.m.      The Big 66: Sixty-six of My Favorite Songs in No Particular Order

Yeah, putting 66 burning candles on a cake is definitely a fire hazard. But I’ll play you 66 of my favorite songs of all time as my birthday gift to you! That’s slightly over 4 hours of great music. (Did I mention that there’s actually 67 because I threw one in for good luck?)

By the way, this playlist was compiled in just under an hour and a half on total impulse by combing through about 22,000 active song files on the radio station. If I did it again, there would probably be a whole new list, but these are definitely 67 of my favorites!

9:00 p.m.      The All-Girl Revue, Volume 4

Tune us in on my birthday. It’s a party, people! And it’s totally free.

The Stones “Live,” Dan Fogelberg in the Spotlight, Emmylou Harris & The Desert Rose Band, Plus Our Album of the Week on Thursday, February 6, 2020

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We have great music today, including the Rolling Stones Live at the Fonda Theater!

dan-fogelberg-same-old-lang-syne-3

11:00 a.m.     Album of the Week: Bob Dylan’s Desire

This was the first time I heard Emmylou Harris in any serious fashion. I had heard her sing on some of Linda Ronstadt’s music, and she was becoming known to me then, but the raw power of her performances on this album really struck me. It was only much later that I found out she did not know that Dylan would use all the material as it happened, with no post-production. Amazing. I immediately went out and bought Elite Hotel. The rest is history.

2:00 p.m.      The Rolling Stones: Live at the Fonda Theater

A brand new addition to our “live” music collection!

5:00 p.m.      In the Spotlight: The Music of Dan Fogelberg

9:00 p.m.      Emmylou Harris & The Desert Rose Band

It inadvertently turned out to be an Emmylou kind of day. Here she steps out with the Desert Rose Band, a country rock band out of California founded in 1985 by Chris Hillman (formerly of The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers), Herb Pederson (formerly of The Eagles), and John Jorgenson.
