Good Morning, Ungovernables! It’s another Tuesday Bluesday here in The Mermaid Lounge and we have an oldie but goodie for you today.
Here’s your line-up for Tuesday:
11:00 a.m. Tuesday Bluesday! Janis Joplin & The Kozmic Blues Band, Live in Amsterdam, April 1, 1969 NEW!
The Kozmic Blues Band was but one of the bands that Janis fronted after Big Brother & The Holding Company and before Full Tilt Boogie, as she continued her quest for the “perfect” band. There isn’t much information out there about the band, other than the members’ names. The link I provided is just about the best info you can find out there, and it’s a fan site.
3:00 p.m. Album of the Week: Good Souls Better Angels by Lucinda Williams
The latest album from Lucinda Williams is our featured album this week. You can learn more about this album by clicking on the photo in the right sidebar on this blog.
6:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of The Doors
Like Janis Joplin, The Doors’ leader, Jim Morrison, is one of the members of the ’27 Club’, the rockers who died in their 27th year. There are several others in this group, including Gram Parsons, Jimi Hendrix, and Brian Jones. The Doors were only a factor for four years but, in four years, they made some seriously great fucking music.
It’s time to tune us in! We’re sitting here waiting for you.
