Bonnie Raitt “Live,” The Stones in the Spotlight, ELO at Wembley, and the Petty Fest Continues, Tuesday, ROCKTober 15, 2019

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We continue on with the Petty Fest today, and we add Bonnie Raitt, The Rolling Stones and Jeff Lynne’s ELO.

Bonnie Raitt-3

Here’s your line-up:

11:00 a.m.     Bonnie Raitt Live at the Oakland Coliseum (1989)

2:00 p.m.       In the Spotlight: The Music of the Rolling Stones

5:00 p.m.       Jeff Lynne’s ELO: Live at Wembley Stadium (2017)

8:00 p.m.       Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Long After Dark

We have an album focus tonight for our Petty Fest entry. This is a particularly good one.

The Supergroup Nobody Talks About, The Petty Party Continues, and a Special Trip to the Bluebird Cafe, Sunday, October 6, 2019

Good Evening, Ungovernables. We have some great topics of interest here tonight, including a supergroup that nobody calls a supergroup. But this is a fucking supergroup.

Linda Dolly Emmy

11:00 a.m.    Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton: The Trio Collection and More

These three might be the only all-female supergroup that ever was, but that is exactly what they were. This playlist encompasses 2.5 hours of incredible music from their Trio albums, and more. There are alternate versions, outtakes that have never been heard before, and remixes/remasters. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

4:00 p.m.      Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Deep Cuts and B-Sides

As I’ve said many times, most bands would kill for their B-sides.

9:00 p.m.      Steve Early, Townes VanZandt and Guy Clark Live at the Bluebird Cafe

Three of the outlaws of country music. When Tom Petty calls most ‘country’ groups around today “bad pop artists with fiddles,” he is not talking about this trio, that’s for sure.

11:00 p.m.     Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers: Hypnotic Eye

This is not only one of the greatest Tom Petty albums ever, but one of the best albums of all time. See for yourself.

We’re Back With Ladies’ Only Day!

Good Morning, Ungovernables! We’ve been streaming for days now trying to fix a glitch we have without interrupting service. We may have lost that battle. Not quite sure yet. But for today, we’re going to enjoy some tunes from the those we consider the pioneers and powerhouses of women in music.

RONSTADTRAITT2

10:00 a.m.   The All-Girl Revue, File 1: Various Artists

3:00 p.m.     The All-Girl Revue Too (also known as File 2): Various Artists

Both of these playlists offer a great line-up of women musicians across a broad range of styles.

8:00 p.m.     In the Spotlight: The Music of Linda Ronstadt

This month, we pay respect to one of the most fearless artists of her generation with the release of the documentary, The Sound of My Voice. If she were a man, she never would have been made to wait for her induction into the Rock n’Roll Hall of Fame until 2012.

11:00 p.m.    In the Spotlight: The Music of Laura Nyro

Laura Nyro is another of those under appreciated performers. Her songwriting is legendary. Many have hit the big time with her songs, like The Fifth Dimension. Sometimes Nyro’s singing is overlooked, and that is a shame. We aim to correct that here.

Will it be a Ladies Only Weekend? It could be. I’m feelin’ it right now. Stick around and find out!

And by the way, in between these playlists we have our usual inclusive line up.

We’re Back Tomorrow With ‘Ladies Only’

Good Morning, Ungovernables! One more day of open stream while we continue to upload some new files and eliminate others. We’re back with new programming on Friday when it will be Ladies Only day!

photovisi-Ladies Only

Don’t get your underwear in a twist, gentlemen. You dominate the airwaves like everything else. Even Sirius XM hasn’t put together a woman’s station yet, and there are plenty of female singers out there, and plenty whose talent has paved the way for today’s crop of talentless waifs who all sound the same. In fact, if there were a woman’s station today, I am convinced it would not include these pioneers.

the Last Waltz-2

10:00 a.m.    The Band: The Last Waltz

If someone were to ask me the greatest American band next to Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, it wouldn’t be The Eagles. It would be these guys. They had a career that spanned decades and hundreds of songs in their own right, after starting their career as Bob Dylan’s back-up band. The Last Waltz was a fitting farewell for The Band, with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and Van Morrison taking part. Here’s the music. We’ll be live streaming the movie in the next few weeks.

3:00 p.m.    Terry Gannon, Ph.D.: Presentation on Climate at the Independent Institute on December 6, 2017

Is it real? Or isn’t it? Terry L. Gannon received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering and device physics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. In climate science, Dr. Gannon’s technical background in semiconductor science (quantum mechanics, optical phenomena, multi-variable non-linear systems and computer modelling) has enabled him to examine climate change theories comprehensively.

5:00 p.m.    Tom Petty & The Hearbreakers: Deep Cuts, and Lesser Knowns

Tom Petty’s B-sides are pretty much as good as his hits, whether he’s with the Heartbreakers, Mudcrutch, The Traveling Wilbury’s or solo. Enjoy this one.

7:30 p.m.     The Inner Sanctum: Study for Murder

Cats_eyes1

8:00 p.m.     Abby Martin with Peter Joseph: Abolishing Capitalism
