The Music Mermaid is fully in charge and who knows what she’ll do. She could actually even chose a playlist, or a trifecta, or she could just choose to let our file of 30,000 songs run free and wild. You won’t know unless you tune us in!

The button is, of course, below.

Sunday’s EP is All About Friends, Then It’s a Gram Parsons ‘Spotlight’ Feature and Live Jethro Tull, On March 30, 2025

Good morning, musicologists and welcome to Sunday Funday in The Lounge. We’re starting off with five hours of uninterrupted music about friends, some good, some not.

Here’s your Sunday Funday lineup:

9:00 a.m. Friends of Mine: Various Artists

We’ve all got ’em. Some are good friends. Some bring you down. You’ll hear from The Guess Who, War, Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, Linda Ronstadt, Todd Rundgren, Amy Winehouse, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel, John Prine, Joan Baez, The Lovin’ Spoonful, The Beatles, The Byrds, Carole King, Steppenwolf, Paul McCartney, Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Loggins & Messina, Free, Leon Russell, Talking Heads and more!

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Gram Parsons

Gram Parsons was a true visionary of country rock who advanced the genre with The International Submarine Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, through his association with the great Emmylou Harris, and as a solo artist. The only thing that kept him from greatness, as with so many others, was drugs. He died at the age of 26 from an overdose of alcohol and morphine. Here in The Lounge, we do not focus on his tragic death, but rather on what he was able to achieve.

We close out the programming today with a new live performance from Jethro Tull at Madison Square Garden.

We’re here through it all. We hope we’re a bit of light in the darkness covering America at this stage. We’re on 24/7 and we don’t cost you any money ever. There’s no commercial interruption either. Join us. And help spread the word. We also to not advertise. The button is below.

Today It’s The Animals, the ‘Original Sixties Rotation’, and Some Rare Live Guess Who, On Sunday, February 16, 2025

Good morning, music lovers, and welcome to The Mermaid Lounge. We’ve got some great stuff with an Animals ‘Spotlight’, some live Guess Who and five uninterrupted hours of sixties music!

Here’s your Sunday Funday lineup:

9:00 a.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Animals

Undoubtedly one of the greatest of the British sixties R & B and rock bands led by the fantastic Eric Burdon on lead vocals.

12:00 p.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

Ah, the sixties. There has been nothing like them since either culturally, politically or musically. We celebrate it all today with The Beatles, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Joe Cocker, Little Eva, Simon & Garfunkel, The Everly Brothers, The Searchers, Dusty Springfield, The Drifters, The Dave Clark Five, Johnny Rivers, Bob Dylan, The Animals, Petula Clark, The Rolling Stones, Procol Harum, The Turtles, Del Shannon, The Temptations, James Brown, Fontella Bass, Blues Image, Booker T & The MGs, The Four Tops, Lovin’ Spoonful, Them, The Left Banke, Fats Domino and more!

8:00 p.m. The Guess Who Live at The Ambassador Theater, St. Louis, MO, May 6, 1974

Another great band that straddled the sixties and seventies led by another great vocalist in Burton Cummings. They would eventually disband and morph into Bachman-Turner Overdrive, but that’s a whole different story for another day.

We’re here 24/7 for your listening pleasure. And we promise no hidden fees, no collection of private data or snooping in your personal business. We leave that to Elon Musk, the giant piece of shit oligarch currently infecting our government. We’re anti-capitalist. The button is below.

Thursday It’s Volume Two of Our Sixties Rotation, a Roy Orbison ‘Spotlight’ and Live Little Feat, January 30, 2025

Today we’ve got volume two of ‘The Sixties Rotation’ EP, a Spotlight featuring the Caruso of Rock, and live Little Feat, this time featuring the great Lowell George.

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

We’re on the mid-to-late portion of the sixties with The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Jefferson Airplane, the Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley, Buffalo Springfield, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Roy Orbison, The Animals, The Beatles, Linda Ronstadt, Wilson Pickett, The Byrds, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, The Band, The Kinks, Jimmy Cliff, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Blind Faith, The Four Tops, CSNY, Joni Mitchell, Marvin Gaye, B. B. King, and more!

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Roy Orbison

One of the pioneers of rock n’ roll who was blessed with a five-octave range and was known as The Caruso of Rock. He was also a Traveling Wilbury, and his mates considered him one of the best singers on the planet.

8:00 p.m. Little Feat Live at The Orpheum Theater, Boston, MA, October 31, 1975

I had the pleasure of attending this concert back in the day, and I consider it one of their best. It was broadcast on the iconic Boston radio station WBCN, and resulted in the Halloween night live album Hellzapoppin’. Don’t get me wrong. Little Feat without Lowell George has acquitted itself well. However, Little Feat is only really Little Feat with Lowell at the helm.

We’re here like clockwork all day and all night long, uninterrupted by commercials and chatty DJ’s. We’re all about the music, and we’re totally free of charge. The button is below.

On Wednesday, We Keep It Simple With a Big, Wide Open Stream Day! January 15, 2025.

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Alison Krauss

An American treasure with a beautiful voice. She’s also a mean fiddle player. We give you her music from her time with Union Station, her unlikely pairing with Robert Plant, and as a solo artist.

8:00 p.m. Jimi Hendrix Live at The Berkeley Community Center, Berkeley, CA, May 30, 1970

We close with a live Hendrix performance in Berkeley, just four months before his death.
