It’s time once again for music from across the pond with The Beatles, The Who, Dave Mason, Electric Light Orchestra, Petula Clark, The Zombies, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Small Faces, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Kinks, The Dave Clark Five, The Bee Gees, The Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, Them, Herman’s Hermits, The Rolling Stones, Badfinger, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Yardbirds, Traffic, Elton John, Lulu, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Animals, Spencer Davis Group, Cream, Donovan, The Searchers, and more!

We’re here all day today. There’s no rush. Get out on the streets and fight for our democracy. We’ll be here when you return. This is our time, and we must meet the moment. If you’re unable, the button is below.

We Bring Back ‘What’s In a Name,’ Then It’s Dylan & The Heartbreakers Live, and a Jimmy Cliff ‘Spotlight,’ Thursday, May 29, 2025

We’re headed for the weekend with a great lineup, including the return of our ‘What’s In a Name’ EP after a hiatus. What follows is even better!

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. What’s In a Name: Various Artists

We’re back with songs about people, some real, some imagined. You’ll hear Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Them, Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Donovan, Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt, Shawn Colvin, Carly Simon, Warren Zevon, Linda Ronstadt, Laura Nyro, Bobbie Gentry, The Kinks, Three Dog Night, The Association, Joni Mitchell, Badfinger, Steely Dan, Chi Coltrane, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, James Taylor, Tony Joe White, and more!

4:00 p.m. Bob Dylan with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Live at Rich Stadium, Orchard Park, NY, July 4, 1986

Two unbelievably great acts together on one stage on Dylan’s True Confessions tour. It was a thing of beauty.

8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Jimmy Cliff

Jimmy Cliff is the stuff of legends. He’s a reggae, ska, rocksteady and soul singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and the only living reggae musician to ever hold The Order of Merit. Bob Dylan called his song Vietnam the best protest song he’d ever heard. If you don’t know Jimmy Cliff, you can learn more about him here. And you can tune him in tonight!

We’re here. We’re free. We don’t run advertising. And we’re on 24/7. What could be better. And no, you can’t build personal playlists, but I say that’s not radio. This is radio, except we don’t play the same hundred songs over, and over, and over. See for yourselves.

We’re Over the Hump With ‘Ode to Morning,’ a Dolly Parton ‘Spotlight,’ and Live Stones on Thursday, May 22, 2025

We’re over the midweek hump and headed toward the weekend. The orange-faced fascist will be golfing, and we’ll be peaceful for at least a couple of days. We’ve got our ‘Ode to Morning,’ a Dolly Parton ‘Spotlight,’ and live Rolling Stones on tap today!

Here’s your Thursday lineup:

9:00 a.m. Ode To Morning: Various Artists

Yesterday it was songs about the night. Today it’s songs about the beauty of renewal of morning with Yusuf/Cat Stevens, The Beatles, Hoyt Axton, Neil Young, The Rascals, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, James Taylor, Gram Parsons, Simon & Garfunkel, Taj Mahal, Harry Chapin, Linda Ronstadt, Dan Fogelberg, Three Dog Night, Ry Cooder, Tim Buckley, Muddy Waters, Jonathan Edwards, Bob Dylan, Badfinger, Townes Van Zandt and more!

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of Dolly Parton

We’ve got a really eclectic lineup today and Dolly is a big part of that in the mid-afternoon time slot. Fun fact about Dolly is that she is estimated to have written 3,000 songs over her long career; releasing 950 of them herself. The rest have been sung by many other artists. Dolly has also sung more than 950 songs; the others have been written by others. She’s truly a musical legend.

8:00 p.m. The Rolling Stones Live at The Super Arena, Saitama, Japan, April 2, 2006

We close it out with the Stones on their 2006 tour with a performance from Saitama.

We’re here. We’re free. And we do not run commercial advertising at any time. We’re an anti-capitalist music station. We don’t want to be like the pay-for-play music services, so you can’t build individual playlists. That’s not radio. The button is below.

Today, ‘The British Are Coming’, Then It’s Peter Tosh Live in Amsterdam, and a Hollies ‘Spotlight’, Thursday, May 15, 2025

4:00 p.m. Peter Tosh Live at The Apartheid Festival, Amsterdam, Netherlands, July 13, 1981

This afternoon we have one of the founding members of The Wailers in the midst of his solo career performing life in Amsterdam.

8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Hollies

The Hollies never really got the credit they deserved, in my opinion. They were a very integral part of The British Invasion and we love these guys here in The Mermaid Lounge. This evening, they’re ‘In the Spotlight.’

You know the closing content by now. We’re free. Check. We don’t run advertising. Check. I’m the only DJ and I’m practically mute. Check. And that’s because we’re all about the music. Check. So here’s the button:

8:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of J. J. Cale

One of the best right here. A pioneer of the “Tulsa Sound” which blended blues, rockabilly, country, and jazz. His bluesy guitar, whispery vocals, and shuffling beat defined the genre. He also wrote some of the best: Cocaine, After Midnight, The Old Man and Me, 13 Days, and Crazy Mama are among his compositions.

We’re here 24/7 without any commercial interruption. We don’t ask for a subscription, a credit card or your personal information. We don’t track or try to sell to you. What’s not to love? The button is below.

It’s Sunday Funday With ‘Color My World’, a Richard & Mimi Farina ‘Spotlight’ Feature, and Live Joan Baez, on April 27, 2025

Welcome to Sunday Funday here in The Mermaid Lounge and we are bringing in some new folk music for the resistance along with the ‘Color My World’ EP and live Joan Baez.

Here’s your Sunday Funday lineup:

9:00 a.m. Color My World: Various Artists

We open with five hours of songs about all colors of the spectrum with music from James Taylor, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Donovan, Booker T & The MGs, Procol Harum, Electric Light Orchestra, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, John Hiatt, J.D. Souther, The Who, Sam & Dave, Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, Badfinger, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, Jefferson Airplane, The Hollies, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, Cream, Marvin Gaye, Lucinda Williams and more!

Not a lot of music, but some of the most inspiring music ever made. Richard Farina tragically died at the age of 29, never realizing his full genius potential. They were a fixture in the Boston-Cambridge (Massachusetts) folk scene, gracing the stage at Club 47, the Unicorn Coffee House, and other iconic venues. They appeared at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, and collaborated with some of the best, including Joan Baez. Today, we put them in the spotlight where they belong as part of our growing ‘protest music’ focus.

8:00 p.m. Joan Baez: Live in 1962

We close out the day with the great Joan Baez, no stranger to songs about social justice, recorded live at several venues during 1962 at the very beginning of a long and brilliant musical career.

We are committed to music, and we are committed to free music with no commercial avertising. We are also committed to meeting the moment and raising our voices through song. We vowed never to involve politics, but where we are is not a question of politics. It’s right vs. wrong. Truth vs. lies. We must all stand and deliver in some way. This is our way. One great singer-songwriter whose career has spanned five decades and many genres, including rock, R & B, pop, soul and jazz.

8:00 p.m. Chicago Live at Tanglewood Music Center, Lenox, MA, July 21, 1970

I was at this performance. It was and still is a truly amazing outdoor setting and this was a great show. Enjoy.

Here we are again at the beginning of another work week with more uncertainty in the air because The Orange Buffoon is back from Mar-A-Lago. I try not to be political, but these are not ordinary times and none of us can keep our mouths shut. We’re anti-capitalist and we don’t charge any money. We’re here 24/7. And we don’t track you. The button is below.

Friday’s Here and It’s ‘All About Blue’, a Temptations ‘Spotlight’ and Linda Ronstadt Live in L.A., March 21, 2025

4:00 p.m. In The Spotlight: The Music of The Temptations

This afternoon it’s one of the bands that put Motown on the map and also invented the psychedelic soul genre with their album, Cloud Nine.

8:00 p.m. Linda Ronstadt Live at The Universal Amphitheater, Universal City, CA, October 3, 1977

Ronstadt just as she was busting out and becoming the undisputed Queen of Rock (and she still is in our book). During her hey day, she played a 20-night residency there.

We’re nearly there. The Orange Shitstain will be golfing this weekend. Maybe things will settle down for a couple of days. We can hope. In the meantime, we hope that the music will provide you with an escape from this hell until we can eliminate him from the political scene. The button is below.

On Monday ‘The British Are Coming’, Then It’s a Phoebe Snow ‘Spotlight’ and Live David Crosby On March 10, 2025

No personal information asked. And no commercial advertising. Just great music all day and all night long without interruption. The button is below.
