It’s Simply Sunday With This Week’s AOW by The Bee Gees and Our ‘British Are Coming’ EP, November 5, 2023

It’s the Brits all the way around today as we open up with our Album of The Week by The Bee Gees and then move into ‘The British Are Coming’ EP at mid-afternoon.

Here’s your Sunday Funday lineup:

When the Bee Gees first hit the music scene, my first reaction was “Wow, these guys are good.” And they were. Until they discovered disco. That’s when I made the break. But up until that point, The Bee Gees were a great little band. And so, we play them up until that fateful disco transition. (There are a few other bands that have met that fate, like The Doobie Brothers, but that’s a different story for a different day.) This is the band’s third studio album, but their debut album in the U.S. and UK. Their first two albums were released only in Australia and New Zealand.

3:00 p.m. The British Are Coming: Various Artists

Today our programming is dedicated to music from across the pond. In this great extended playlist you’ll hear The Beatles (of course), The Who, Dave Mason, Electric Light Orchestra, Petula Clark, The Zombies, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Small Faces, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Kinks, Dave Clark Five, the Bee Gees the Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, George Harrison, Them, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Badfinger, The Yardbirds, Traffic, Elton John, Lulu, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Animals, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, Spencer Davis Group, The Rolling Stones Cream, Donovan, The Searchers and more!

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. Under The Influence: Various Artists

Yes, some legal. Some not. Come on. We’ve all been there. You’ll hear The Byrds, Arlo Guthrie, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen, Donovan, Glen Frey, John Lee Hooker, Jonathan Edwards, Little Feat, Linda Ronstadt, The Traveling Wilburys, The Temptations, Small Faces, Steely Dan, The Beatles, Talking Heads, Neil Young, New Riders of The Purple Sage, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Velvet Underground, the Rolling Stones, Dave Van Ronk, Emmylou Harris, John Prine, Jackson Browne, Steve Winwood, Led Zeppelin, Harry Chapin, The Band, The Fraternity of Man and more!

7:00 p.m. Cream Live at Royal Albert Hall, London, UK, November 26, 1968

This was Cream’s final live performance ever broadcast on the BBC. Don’t miss it!

We’re rolling now, citizens. Everything here is downhill toward the weekend. We’ll help you get there in style with some great 24/7 music and some fun programming in between all that wide Open Stream.

Midweek Brings a Ride On ‘The Psychedelic Express,’ Christine McVie, and ‘Live’ Steely Dan Later, Wednesday, March 22, 2023

Good morning, music lovers! We’re at midweek and we start off with our ‘Psychedelic Express’ EP, move on to our singer-songrwriter series, and give you some ‘live’ Steely Dan to cap off today’s programming.

Here’s today’s musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Psychedelic Express: Various Artists

Nothing like a little psychedelia to start out today’s musical journey. It’s a genre that transcends time, even though its origins began during the sixties. You’ll hear Vanilla Fudge, The Chambers Brothers, The Beatles, Electric Prunes, The Animals, Jefferson Airplane, Blues Image, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Donovan, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Byrds, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Traffic, Cream, Dr. John, Procol Harum, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Canned Heat, Yes, Electric Light Orchestra, Tommy James & The Shondells, Mudcrutch, Blind Faith, Grateful Dead, Velvet Underground, Big Brother & The Holding Company and more!

4:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Christine McVie

We bring the late, great Christine McVie back for a second spin as our featured singer-songwriter this afternoon.

7:00 p.m. Steely Dan Live at The National City Pavillion, Cincinnati, OH, July 13, 2008

Tonight we feature some live music from one of the greatest bands of the seventies. Back when they were big, I used to hear the rap on them was that they couldn’t reproduce their sound live and onstage. Don’t know where that came from. I never had that experience when I saw them live. Hogwash.

Get a midweek boost here with some great music, including just about five hours of mind-blowing music to get you into the afternoon. We’re on 24/7, we’re totally free, and there’s no commercial advertising. No kidding.

Friday in The Lounge Brings The ‘Foodies Only’ Playlist, Van Morrison as the Featured Singer-Songwriter, and Linda & Emmylou ‘Live’ Together in Boston, February 17, 2023

Good morning, weekenders. It’s almost here! We have a great lineup for you as we ease you into the weekend. We start out with a fun playlist this morning called ‘Foodies Only’ and it just may make you hungry because it’s songs about food and drink in the title, lyrics or both!

Here’s your Friday lineup:

11:00 a.m. For Foodies Only: Various Artists UPDATED!

Songs about food (and drink) in the title, lyrics or both open up our programming today. You’ll hear The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Little Feat, Van Morrison, The Four Tops. And yes, we’ve added a few new songs.

4:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Van Morrison FINAL AIRING!

Today is the final airing of Van Morrison as our featured singer-songwriter for the week. His talent cannot be denied. His career has spanned seven amazing decades. Tune it in today.

7:00 p.m. Linda Ronstadt & Emmylou Harris Live at The Orpheum, Boston, MA, October 1, 1999

Linda and Emmylou have been friends for a very long time. If you’ve seen the Linda Ronstadt documentary, The Sound of My Voice, you know the depth of their friendship. This tour was in support of their Western Wall album, which is an amazing piece of work. I remember the years leading up to the album and wishing that they’d do something together. It was worth the wait. Tonight we feature them live from my hometown in a historic music venue.

Hey, I sound like a broken record, so I’m not repeating my canned closing here. Suffice it to say if you’re not listening, you’re missing out on a great thing. (And it’s 100% FREE.)
