You won’t hear Stayin’ Alive here or any other Bee Gees music from that phase. That’s a promise.

To understand the importance of Jimmy Cliff all you need to do is read the opening paragraph of his Wikipedia entry: “James Chambers, OM (born 30 July 1944), known professionally as Jimmy Cliff, is a Jamaican ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and actor. The Beatles were not road warriors, mostly because they became frustrated that their music was not being ‘heard’ by the screaming, teeming masses. They remember the Hollywood Bowl performances fondly, however, even though their crowds were not the biggest by today’s standards. But back in 1964, 18,700 fans attending a concert was pretty formidable. The opening acts for this show were The Righteous Brothers and Jackie DeShannon.
