This was the nineteenth studio album by The Kinks, released in the U.S. in 1981 (but in 1982 in Europe). Although it’s what some might call an ‘unremarkable’ album, it did spawn three single releases, and it’s always a treat when Crissie Hynde shows up for your album (she had a thing going with Ray Davies a the time).

At 3:00 p.m. sharp, the ladies of music take over in The Lounge. They’re partying with The Music Mermaid throughout the afternoon and into the evening. When Linda Ronstadt first left Tucson for LA to make music, she met Bobby Kimmel who proposed they start a band. Then came Kenny Edwards (who would become an integral part of her solo career band). Thus, The Stone Poneys were born. The rest, as they say, is musical history as Linda Ronstadt forged an amazing career that earned her the title ‘The Queen of Rock’ in a male-dominated world. These early days are often forgotten, but not here in The Mermaid Lounge as we give you a brand new Spotlight featuring her days as a Stone Poney.

Yes, we are about to change seasons once again, so we think this is a good time to play this one since we’ve not heard it since the last snowfall. His songs have been sung by many, including Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt. He has also been part of the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Tonight we introduce him as our featured singer-songwriter.

One of the great musical supergroups released this album in May of 1969, and it elevated them to instant stardom. This would be the only album released before they added Neil Young to the group. It spawned two Top 40 hits in Marrakesh Express and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (for Judy Collins), but every song on this album became a CSN classic. It also shifted the music world from strictly blues-based music played on loud guitars and introduced the folk-rock sound. They opened the door for others playing the same genre.

3:00 p.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists
