She is best known for her song Sunny Came Home, which won Grammys for both Song and Record of the Year in 1998. She has been composing, singing, recording and performing live for decades and is rightfully our new featured singer-songwriter.

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Goodbye and Hello by Tim Buckley NEW!

A lot of people don’t really know Tim Buckley. It took me a while to discover him as well. He was one of those singer-songwriters we call a changeling. He began his career in folk music but spread his wings into jazz, psychedelic, funk, soul, avant-garde and more, before dying at the age of 28 in 1975 from a heroin and morphine overdose. Goodbye and Hello was Buckley’s second studio album released in August of 1967 and is a combination of folk-rock and psychedelic-folk.

The question you have to ask yourself is what kind of folk music best suits you? Because it’s a deep-rooted musical style that has changed and evolved over the years without losing its basic identity. I remember when Dylan took it electric. It created quite a stir. Whether the event really happened according to the musical legend or not has been the subject of much discussion over the years. However, it seems that The Berkshire Eagle has finally put the question to bed for all of us. Come join us for this great holiday tradition!

We haven’t aired this great EP since sometime in September, but it’s back today for Thanksgiving. And yes, everybody knows that the two were a “thing” in 1968 into 1969, and that Stephen Stills wrote songs about her, namely Suite: Judy Blue Eyes and Judy. In spite of the fact that Stills has played on several of Collins’ songs, they never made an album together or toured together until 2017, with the release of this collaboration. We’ve got it for you this week.

10:00 p.m. The Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Jackson Browne NEW!

Before Jackson Browne became a legendary solo artist, he had success writing songs for others. He wrote the song These Days at the age of sixteen. It became a minor hit in 1967 for Nico, a protégé of Andy Warhol. He also wrote songs for fellow Southern California bands, including the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (he was a member of the band for a short time in 1966). The Eagles had their first hit in 1972 with a Jackson Browne song, Take It Easy. Browne also released his first solo album in 1972, which gave him his own Top 40 hits with Doctor My Eyes and Rock Me On The Water. The rest, as they say, is musical history, and Jackson Browne is this week’s featured Singer-Songwriter.

Pop was a big part of the sixties music scene, and some bands did it better than others. This is one such band. Led by singer Elaine “Spanky” McFarlane, Spanky & Our Gang became known for their amazing harmonies and for a string of hits in both the U.S. and Canada, including Like To Get To Know You, Sunday Will Never Be The Same, Sunday Mornin’, and Lazy Day. But in my mind, the best song they ever made was Give A Damn. You’ll hear all of them and more here tonight.

10:00 p.m. LIVE DEAD! The Grateful Dead Live at The Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, New York, June 24, 1970

We last aired this concert in 2019, so it’s definitely like brand new. When you tool around the Internet, you’ll see people saying this was their best live performance ever. Others say their Cornell University concert was the best. Beauty is in the ear of the beholder when it comes to The Dead. But one thing’s for certain: No two concerts are ever the same, even on the same tour.
