Good morning, weekenders! We finally made it to the weekend and we’ve got a great lineup today, starting with our ‘Original Sixties Rotation’ EP!

Here’s today’s musical lineup:

10:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

This particular volume generally covers the early-to-mid sixties, although we can’t guarantee that some later tunes didn’t sneak in. You’ll hear Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, The Dave Clark Five, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Procol Harum, The Temptations, Fats Domino and more!

5:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Groovin’ by The Young Rascals FINAL AIRING!

We bid this great selection a fond farewell today. Tomorrow morning there’ll be a brand new album of the week for you!

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of John David Souther NEW!

This guy had our album of the week a couple of weeks ago and we promised he’d be back, so here he is. Generally know as a songwriter, J.D. Souther is very underrated as a singer. His songs have been sung by many, including Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt. He has also been part of the Souther-Hillman-Furay Band. Tonight we introduce him as our featured singer-songwriter.

Before, in between and long after our programming is over, we give you that great wide Open Stream courtesy of The Music Mermaid. As you know by now, she has impeccable taste in music. We’re totally free 24/7 with no commercial interruptions.

We Head To the Weekend With ‘The British Are Coming’ EP, Our AOW, and Some ‘Live’ Kinks Later, Thursday, June 29, 2023

Good morning, all! With the exception of Dylan’s AOW, it’s kind of a British Invasion today with five hours of music from across the pond and some ‘live’ music from the battling Davies brothers later!

Here’s your musical landscape:

9:00 a.m. The British Are Coming: Various Artists

The British Invasion and beyond is the order of the day, and you’ll hear from The Beatles (of course), The Who, Dave Mason, Electric Light Orchestra, Petula Clark, The Zombies, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Small Faces, Led Zeppelin, Queen, The Kinks, the Dave Clark Five, The Bee Gees, The Moody Blues, Rod Stewart, George Harrison, Them, Herman’s Hermits, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Badfinger, The Yardbirds, Traffic, Elton John, Lulu, Pink Floyd, Yes, The Animals, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, the Spencer Davis Group, Cream, Donovan, The Rolling Stones and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: Nashville Skyline by Bob Dylan

Released in 1969, this was Dylan’s total immersion in country music and it includes a duet with the great Johnny Cash with The Girl From The North Country. We’re winding down on this one. The final airing is sometime Saturday.

7:00 p.m. The Kinks Live at The Palladium, New York, December 31, 1980

What better way to close the day than with some music from the battling Davies brothers. Fist fights in the dressing room were not unheard of back in the day, but they made a hell of a lot of great music together.

We’re here 24/7 and we’re totally free of charge, folks. We are all about the music, and there’s no hidden fees or bullshit. Give it a try. All you need is a free tab and he button below.

We Head for the Weekend With the ‘Original Sixties Rotation’ Multi-Artist EP, Joni Mitchell’s AOW, and Simon & Garfunkel In the Spotlight on Thursday, June 22, 2023

Good morning, music lovers! We are on the downslide to the weekend starting with our ‘Original Sixties Rotation’ and we move on from there! Read on for details!

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

Early-to-mid is about right here and you’ll hear the music of Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, The Dave Clark Five, The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Procol Harum, The Temptations, Fats Domino and more!

4:00 p.m. Album of The Week: The Hissing of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell

We’re winding down on this great album. The final airing will be sometime on Saturday, so don’t miss it!

7:00 p.m. In the Spotlight: The Music of Simon & Garfunkel

We haven’t aired this one in a while, so it’s about that time. Two kids who met in grammar school, made their first song at the age of sixteen, and went on to sell over 100 million records during their career.

Come on in, the music’s great. And it’s on 24/7 at no charge to you. Ever. We promise. And there is no commercial interruption either. See for yourself.

On This Keep-It-Simple Sunday, We’ve Got Our AOW by Buffalo Springfield and ‘The Original Sixties Rotation’ EP, May 21, 2023

Good morning, musicologists! As you know, we keep it simple on Sundays with plenty of wide Open Stream, but we do have a great new AOW and our original sixties rotation.

Here’s your simple Sunday lineup:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Buffalo Springfield by Buffalo Springfield NEW!

Although Buffalo Springfield wasn’t satisfied with this album, recorded in the summer of 1966 at Gold Star Studios, this was a groundbreaking album in many respects. Five of the songs were written by a guy named Neil Young, but he only sang lead on one of those. Richie Furay sang lead on the rest. Their first release from the album did not catch on nationally, but did make the Top 40 in Los Angeles during the month of August. However, by December, Stephen Stills’ For What It’s Worth became a national hit. The rest, as they say, is musical history. Aside from Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, the band was rounded out by Bruce Palmer (bass guitar) and Dewey Martin (drums, backing vocals).

3:00 p.m. The Original Sixties Rotation: Various Artists

Our first sixties extended playlist with five uninterrupted hours of music from the early-to-mid sixties (although I am sure some songs from the latter part of that decade slipped in). You’ll hear Del Shannon, Little Eva, The Drifters, The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, The Hollies, The Walker Brothers, Mary Wells, Dusty Springfield, The Searchers, The Monkees, Sonny & Cher, Petula Clark, Glen Campbell, Johnny Rivers, The Dave Clark Five, The Supremes, Harry Nilsson, The Band, The Yardbirds, The Kinks, Simon & Garfunkel, Blind Faith, Janis Joplin, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, The Who, Bob Dylan, Tony Joe White, Barry McGuire, Procol Harum, The Temptations, Fats Domino and more!

It’s a day of rest, fellow citizens, so why not kick back and relax with some great sixties music (and more). We’re totally free, we’re on 24/7, and we accept absolutely no commercial advertising. Just do it.

It’s Saturday and The Women of Music are in Charge; We’ve Also Got Mudcrutch and Aretha Franklin, May 13, 2023

Good morning, musicologists! Today it’s ‘Ladies Day Out’ as our featured EP, Aretha Franklin as our new featured singer-songwriter and Mucrutch’s final turn with our AOW.

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. Album of the Week: Mudcrutch by Mudcrutch FINAL AIRING!

Today we bid a fond farewell to Mudcrutch’s self-titled 2008 debut album. Tomorrow we’ll have a brand new selection for you.

They come in all shapes and sizes and all musical genres, including Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Carly Simon, Emmylou Harris, Cilla Black, Irma thomas, Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Etta James, Janis Joplin, Carole King, Maria Muldaur, Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Eva Cassidy, Wendy Waldman, Shawn Colvin, The Ronettes, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Norah Jones, Phoebe Snow, Nicolette Larson, Sheryl Crown, Susan Tedeschi, Valerie Carter, Dusty Springfield, Dolly Parton and more. Five hours of uninterrupted music!

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Aretha Franklin NEW!

The undisputed Queen of Soul’s career spanned six decades with global sales of over 75 million records, making her one of the world’s best selling musical artists. She charted 112 singles on the U.S. Billboard charts, including 73 Hot 100 entries, 17 Top 10 pop singles, 100 R & B entries with 20 number one R & B singles. ‘Nuff said.

We’ve made it to the weekend. I’ve got one more day in retail hell, but The Music Mermaid can take it from here. She has impeccable taste in music and will keep the place humming before, in between and long after our programming is completed.

It’s the Final Airing of Karla Bonoff’s AOW, ‘The British Are Coming’ EP, and We Introduce Dolly Parton as This Week’s Featured Singer-Songwriter on Saturday, April 29, 2023

Good morning, weekenders! I have one more day left, but this is officially the first full day of the weekend, and we’ve got some great stuff lined up for you today.

Here’s today’s musical landscape:

9:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Karla Bonoff by Karla Bonoff FINAL AIRING!

We say farewell to Karla Bonoff’s great debut album this morning. We’ve already got another lined up for tomorrow by another great female songwriter, but you’ll just have to tune us in then to find out who it is.

12:00 p.m. The British Are Coming: Various Artists

Music from across the pond from the British Invasion and beyond. You’ll hear The Beatles, The Who, Dave Mason, Electric Light Orchestra, Petula Clark, The Zombies, The Hollies, Dusty Springfield, Small Faces. 8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Dolly Parton NEW!

What can you say about Dolly Parton? She’s been a fixture on the country music scene since 1956, partnered up with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris to form one of music’s most formidable supergroups (Trio), and is still active today. During that time, it is estimated that she has written about 3,000 songs. They have been covered by so many artists, including Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Tina Turner, Maria Muldaur, Waylon Jennings, Whitney Houston, The Incredible String Band and many more. You know, people keep talking about Whitney Houston’s cover of Parton’s I Will Always Love You, probably because it was associated with a movie. In reality, that cover is owned by Linda Ronstadt. Even Dolly says that. But I digress. This week, Dolly Parton is our featured singer-songwriter, and she’s doing the singing.

Hell, it’s Saturday. Forget the yard work and house painting. Tune in. Turn on. And drop out with us as we play you the finest music on the planet at no charge to you. We’re on 24/7 and we’re uninterrupted by rampant capitalism.

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Karla Bonoff NEW!

Although Karla Bonoff has released several really wonderful albums, she is best known as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation. Linda Ronstadt feasted off Karla’s work, including Someone To Lay Down Beside Me, Lose Again, Trouble Again and others. Others who have sung Karla’s songs include Wynnona Judd, Lynn Anderson, and Bonnie Raitt (an amazing rendition of Home for one). Tonight, we get to hear Karla sing her compositions herself.
