Monday’s Back and So Is Volume Two of Our Sixties Rotation, Later We Have The ‘Trio Sessions’, June 26, 2023

Good morning, working class! We’ve got another Monday here in The Mermaid Lounge and some great music to help you get through the day. Read on for details!

Here’s your Monday, Monday lineup:

9:00 a.m. The Sixties Rotation, Volume Two: Various Artists

This sixties EP covers mostly the mid-to-late sixties with The Mamas & The Papas, Simon & Garfunkel, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Sly & The Family Stone, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Roy Orbison, The Yardbirds, The Animals, Linda Ronstadt, The Byrds, Chuck Berry, James Brown, Blind Faith, Spencer Davis Group, Elvis Presley, The Box Tops, The Doors, Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, Led Zeppelin, Wilson Pickett, The Beatles, The Band, Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, The Ronettes, The Kinks, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimmy Cliff, Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix Experience and more!

4:00 p.m. The Complete Trio Sessions: Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris

One of the greatest supergroups of all times was also all female, although only handful of music critics refer to Trio as a supergroup. They definitely are. Three powerhouses of country, rock and country rock united for a glorious period of time and produced some amazing music together. Today we have the final verisons, the outtakes and the alternative versions for you.

Undoubtedly a great lineup to start your work week. If you are lucky enough to be able to listen on the job, shut your door, pull up a tab, and tune us in. We’re on 24/7 with no commercial interruption and no credit card or subscription required. We’re all about the music.

It’s Saturday in The Lounge With Our House Playlist EP, the Final Airing of Joni Mitchell’s AOW, and Townes Van Zandt’s Debut as Our Featured Singer-Songwriter, June 24, 2023

Good morning, weekenders! We have made it to Saturday and we’ve got a great lineup of music as we say Hello-Goodbye (a little Beatles imagery there) to Townes Van Zandt and Joni Mitchell. In between, we’ve got our great House EP.

Here’s your musical lineup:

9:00 a.m. Album of The Week: The Hissing of Summer Lawns by Joni Mitchell FINAL AIRING!

We say farewell to Mitchell’s great jazz-rock album today with a final airing. Tomorrow, we’ll have a brand new selection for you.

11:00 a.m. The #BecomeUngovernable House Playlist: Various Artists

One of the first playlists we created here includes the music that made us want to start this station with from the very beginning. You’ll hear Barry McGuire, The Temptations, Peter Tosh, The Beatles, Genesis, T-Rex, The Who, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, Country Joe & The Fish, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Joan Baez, CSNY, Pink Floyd, The Animals, Ten Years After, The Plastic Ono Band, George Harrison, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix, Three Dog Night, Jimmy Cliff, Richie Havens, Marvin Gaye, The Association, Phil Ochs, Tom Rush, Pete Seeger, The Band, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin and more!

8:00 p.m. Singer-Songwriter Series: The Music of Townes Van Zandt NEW!

Although not a commercial success like Dylan, Townes Van Zandt is often put on the same pedestal. He was a prolific songwriter whose compositions are considered masterpieces of American songwriting, such as Pancho & Lefty, For The Sake of The Song, Tecumseh Valley and If I Needed You. His songs have been recorded by hundreds of artists, including Emmylou Harris (the absolute best version of Pancho & Lefty ever, IMO), Norah Jones, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Gillian Welch, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan himself.

You’ve made it to the weekend, so why not celebrate with the little radio station that could. We’re not in it for the money. We’re in it for the music. I’m sharing my own personal juke box with the world. And best of all, we’re on 24/7 with no commercial advertising! Try us.

It’s Another Simple Sunday With the New Album of The Week by Mudcrutch and Our ‘Here Comes the Night’ EP, May 7, 2023

We like to keep it simple on Sundays and give you plenty of wide Open Stream with The Music Mermaid. Today we’ve got the first Mudcrutch album as our AOW to kick it off.

Here’s today’s musical lineup:

11:00 a.m. Album of The Week: Mudcrutch by Mudcrutch NEW!

We start the day and a new week with the first Mudcrutch album. This is the band that left Gainesville looking for musical fortune in L.A. It didn’t work out until later as the band split and morphed into Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (we’re happy for that part). Later in 2008, Tom Petty reunited the original band and they finally found their place in the music world, releasing two albums and going on tour. Enjoy this one. They were a fine band in their own right.

3:00 p.m. Here Comes The Night: Various Artists

Night time is the right time. Just ask Warren Zevon, the J. Geils Band, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Them, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Patti Smith, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruce Springsteen, The Kinks, the Electric Prunes, Phoebe Snow, Joe Walsh, The Eagles, The Ronettes, John Cougar Mellencamp, The Doors, Emmylou Harris, Poco, Neil Diamond, The Animals, The Band, the Rolling Stones, Don McLean, Steve Winwood, Cat Stevens, The Traveling Wilburys, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Cliff, Bonnie Raitt and more!

Kick back and relax with us today. It’s Sunday. Don’t know where you are today, but here it’s bright and sunny and will be in the 70’s. Nice. Great day for great music.
