Sam Cooke is back for his second spin as this week’s featured singer-songwriter. An amazingly talented and respected artist, Sam Cooke was often called “The King of Soul.”

This was Young’s solo Journey Through The Past tour as he played in front of his native countrymen in Toronto. It’s a great performance and we’ve got it to close out the day’s programming.

Although it’s what some might call an ‘unremarkable’ album, it did spawn three single releases, and it’s always a treat when Crissie Hynde shows up for your album (she had a thing going with Ray Davies a the time).

Others who have sung Karla’s songs include Wynnona Judd, Lynn Anderson, and Bonnie Raitt (an amazing rendition of Home for one). Tonight, we get to hear Karla sing her compositions herself.

The Winter brothers are legends in the classic rock arena and, along with Bonnie Raitt (who won this year at the age of 73), just go to prove that the generation of musicians who inspired this radio station have real staying power.
